easy peasy.

if you want to feel like a fashion superstar
you should get this sweater from anthropologie.

so far today i've had nine compliments.
NINE
that's substantial.
how nice is that?
above and beyond the mood boosting
it's very cozy and keeps shape nicely.
click through this link so you can zoom in on the image
to see how pretty the details are.
and, it's on sale.

to summarize:
white tank.
cardigan.
jeans.
boots.
boom, you look great.

p.s. almost all my other clothes are gray which may
or may not have
a direct relation
to the high volume of compliments.

last but not least, who is ready for GTL tomorrow?

things. i like things...

alright-y right.
i know. i know.
this is probably not your first blush
with laura lombardi's jewelry.
every time i see these two
i want them.
after countless sightings
why haven't i bought at least one yet?
there is no good reason.
 perhaps today is our lucky day,
my friends.

my fair lady

i haven't met a stripe i didn't like.
well, ok. maybe one or two.
but this little number makes my cheeks rosy and warm
just thinking about it.
chic and classic.
i've always been a sucker for fair isle sweaters.
paired with the buttons and stripes...
this one puts me over the edge.
unfortunately, so does the price tag.
DAMN.

i'm seeing plenty of lovely fair isle
in so many of my other favorite shopping holes.
warm, snuggle weight...
{alright, maybe the one on the right isn't fair isle. whatevs.}

even finding some with lest heft.
i can get my layering madness going
under these.
who am i kidding?
these are out of my price range too.
pretty though, right?

i'm on a mad hunt for fair isle.
if you've spotted a dandy, please link me.

are you hunting anything in particular
for the cold season?

bootie up

there are many other things i should be doing with my time
besides thinking about fall fashions
but i can't help it right now!

last year, i completely struck out
in the favorite bootie category.
since anything platform is out of the question for me,
{they make me look like a cartoon character}
{sometimes...a stripper}
 it was really hard to find a perfect pair.
i swear everything that was remotely simple looking
at first glance ended up being platform.
this year, i decided dive in early
and give l.l. bean signature line a try.

 THEY HAVE ARRIVED.
look great. feel great.
the leather is soft & glorious.
aaah.
they are going to look fantastic
with dressier stuff i have to wear to work
-like tweed pencil skirts-
and still rock with denim trousers.
{i feel better about my purchases
when i can get my mix & match awn.}

seriously- what fall gear are you crushing on?

falling for you. deux.

cardigan and earrings from modcloth, jeans from anthropologie,
hobo bag from hayden-harnett, shoes from urban outfitters.

modern romance.
or something.
whatever you want to call it...
i'm going to embrace this look
this fall.

with some wrist worms from sandra juto
i can wear this look
in the cooler months too.

greetings fall.
are you guys feeling the love yet?
if it weren't for the leaves changing
{and falling into my gutters}
i might not be as close along...

falling for you

i'm getting ready for the transition to fall.
pretty excited about it.
{it's been damn hot, for reals.}
perhaps a little shopping is in order?

pairing feminine details
{blouse & scarf}
with masculine structure & texture
{love the rinse & pocket on the thigh!}
feels right at home to me.

i'd also be comfortable swapping out the blouse
for a white tee
{in which case i'd add my long, thin gold chain}
i would likely switch to my filson field bag too.

even swapping out the mary janes
and switching to my
works for me.

are you guys excited for fall or what?
don't get me wrong, i'm going to embrace
every last summer moment...
but i really do love a good change
every now and again.
{especially when it's my clothes}

easy jean: toast
perforated arrow skimmers: urban outfitters
washed wool scarf: j. crew

robe me the right way

if it wasn't from my traipsing around the house
fresh out of bed
and right after a shower
i probably wouldn't need a robe.
but it's part of my morning ritual.
get up. put on robe. pee.
kiss on the cats.
watch the house ewok do downward dog and wag for me.
have an inner debate about playing hookie.
put on a pot of coffee.
brush teeth. shower.
slather on lotion.
put robe back on.
blah. blah. blah.

the robe i have right now is great.
it's really plush and smurfy blue with big ol' polka dots.
too much for summer.
but i can't very well prance around
in my unmentionables with my goods
{and bads} hanging out.

so, i decided to do a little robe round-up
to help narrow down the selection.
here are a few of my faves:
chalk stripe robe via anthropologie

this is simple and lovely. i like the 3/4 sleeves because
i'm less likely to dunk them in my breakfast.

cotton & bamboo terry from l.l.bean

there's something about a straight-up traditional terry robe that i'm attracted to.
plus, when i sho do appreciate the absorbent qualities post shower.

english rose from topshop

pretty! look at the close up of the pattern.
the only debate i'm having with this one is the sleeve length.
not fully on board with short sleeves yet because
i fear some drafty action...but i'm loving the look.

hamam robe via anthropologie

this one is super gorge too. again loving the 3/4 sleeves.
but is this too pretty for my scrappy morning activities?
or should i take this  route for a
bit o'dignity in the morning whilst cleaning up
cat barf ?

decisions.decisions.decisions.
what do you guys think of these?
do you have a fave?
does anyone even wear a robe besides me?
should i just granny up and get a moo moo?

p.s. i left out approximately 85% of the cat and dog kissing from my morning ritual.
they are just really excited when we get up.
virtually impossible to resist.

peekage leakage

sometimes all it takes is a really sunny sick day
to make a dent in things.

see, my stash is overflowing.
i have so much fun stuff to share with you guys
and today i was able to get a bunch of shots in.

here are some more peeks
{twice in one day...i should probably pace myself}
i hope you likey.

so you haven't missed anything.

quite a broad statement

my friend jamie introduced me
to broad street
at our sleepover last weekend.
since then
i keep going back
and back
and back
to visit.
and admire.

talk about statement pieces.
sheesh.
stunning, eclectic combinations
comprised entirely of
love vintage bits
recycled leather
and fur in some cases.
these are not petite.
fyi.
they are sizable stunners
to. be. sure.

even if i was wearing one of these
with a white vee neck tee
and some well loved jeans
{my dream uniform}
something tells me
i'd feel pretty glam.

find more of sara's designs here, at broad street.

studdly

i'm so happy about oxfords.
you see,
fourteen years of wearing heels to work
whilst toting a giant bag around
{pretty much every day}
pressing my ear and shoulder together
to hold the phone in place
really threw my posture out of whack
made my feet sad and tired
and made one of my shoulders sloop.
needless to say
over the past several years
i was relieved by the arrival
of the flats revival.
nothing ortho looking about them.
hooray!

now,
enter oxfords.
not only are they nostalgic
{i was a tween in the 80's so this isn't my first time}
to me they are really,
quintessentially
boyfriend chic.
which i happen to have
a ton of heart for.
at the same time
i love how they are evolving
with modern feminine details
like jazzy ribbon laces
and cut-aways
for your stockings to peek out.
the soft colors of the brogue.
aaaaaaah.

but these
THESE!
the soft gray suede
with gold studs.
they give me the courage
to retire my flats
{well, most anyway}
and sashay away.
in oxfords.
ta ta.

go ahead, make my day

if anyone wants to,
they can go ahead
and buy this for me.

and by *this*
i mean all of it.
shoes.
necklace.
dress.

thanks.
i want to wear something like this
everyday.

all from anthropologie.

keep your eyes on the prize

is bringing up spring right now precocious? terribly premature?
if you live in the mitten {michigan} as i do,
it seems too distant in the weather future
to spend energy planning for it.
and almost ridiculous to be drooling over clothing-to-be.
i mean, what happened to being more *present* in 2010?
i just have to make exceptions sometimes.
like now, when i'm distracted by sessun.

hanging around

i have pierced ears.
haven't worn earrings in years though.
took them out in 2003
{before a week long rafting trip in the grand canyon}.
still haven't made their way back into my accessories arsenal.
when i see little lovelies like this,
i question myself.
it might be time
for me to reconsider.

nike cortez for the chinese new year.
styled after the rare white bengal tiger.

what is that? velvet?

so, duh, i saw these and thought ooooh me likey.

then i read VELVET LINED and my fingers started to flutter in excitement above my keyboard like i was playing a fantastical dreamlike melody on magical piano.

the feeling of that velvet on my little piggies? oh my.

BUT, i'm on a bit of a self-imposed clothes spending freeze until i purge some existing goods {or bads depending on how you look at it}. so, unless i get on that stat, i'm afraid i might miss out on these lovelies.

you should get them though. and i'll come over with delicious snacks and we can have tea and i'll just slip yours on for a few moments. and when my freeze is over and i can seek luxurious items again, i'll come over again with wine and savory things and we will visit. and we will match.

slipped on at toast {they're on sale for crying out loud!}.
