peeks

here's a peek at some goodies
making their way to the shop this weekend.
you like?

kid size enamelware set!
totally exclamation point worthy.

graphic wooden key hanger.
the typography and chippy paint on this is grrreat.

super cool tap set {includes a hammer & super cool block}.

gorgeous velvet clutch with a peachy satin lining.

old locks.
i love the little pointers.

lellow lens and leather case.
heehee.

aaand an egg basket.

if i can get through these photos in the next few hours...
i have plenty of other goodies for a hearty shop update.

i LOVE the tiny enamelware.
might be my fave...

it's a wrap.

i love wrapping.
always have.
always will.
there's a place in my heart for the art of packaging.
do you have a favorite?

lately i've been snipping tiny bits of paper
for my etsy packages and really loving how they turn out.
even snipping tiny letters and shapes out of washi tape.
these little letterpress packages
{they look like bakers chocolate, no?}
are headed to a family in scotland.

it has been letterpress mania over here, by the way.
bunches of letters like this in the shop.
come see.

so, am i alone with my wrapping obsession?
is everyone else elbow deep in paper, tape, and string too?
special snipping shears?

back in black. and white.

things are not always black and white, you know.
but there are some things
in the next shop update
that just so happen to be.

slowly but surely posting some fall finds.
new pulley listings and vintage bottles
have already found their way.

stop by and see what else is new...

busy body

man alive, i've been busy.
as summer turns to autumn,
i start cramming in a gazillion activities before the season officially changes.
you'd think i was preparing for hibernation.
no, just irrational seasonal behavior.
realistically, i have plenty of time.

our neighborhood has a garage sale the same time every year.
last weekend, actually.
it amazes me how much we discover in our own closets and crannies each time.
funny, right?
the good news is:
with a bunch of crap out of the way
some of my vintage stash was exposed.
i took a time out from the hustle and bustle
of the sale
{and unprecedented people watching}
to snap a few shots.
behold!

darling ceramic cake stand

british apothecary jar

tidy monthly journals

bitty rustic cutting board

curvy grappa bottles

hamilton postal scale

keep an eye out for these in the shop this week!

also trying to cram in some apple orchard one of these weekends.
and plant bulbs.
and stake plants.
and. and. and.
do you have fall rituals?

puffeh kitteh

finally got around to snapping some shots of the
three dimensional-ish kitten.
still don't know much about her
except that she's from the 40s.
and still in the original frame.

you can tell better from this shot
that she's puffy.

her next stop: harmonie park

what do you think of her?

sneak peeks: mod squad

so, i am super hoping
{crossing my fingers}
to get these mod beauties
listed in the shop
over the next day or so.

vintage pyrex mug.

full metal jacket. vintage cream & sugar set
{their orange metal jackets come off to reveal the cutest crackle glaze pieces}

lots of dots. vintage pyrex bowl.

vintage pyrex refrigerator dishes.
{i want to fill these with single servings of homemade mac & cheese}

the problem is:
i keep distracting myself
with thoughts of food
because, you see, i'm trying to shed
the eight or so pounds
i've collected on my ass
and arms since january.
and  between thinking about
food i want but shouldn't have
and food i should have but don't want
i can't seem to get anything accomplished
besides naps and origami cranes.

so, i'm seriously going to cross
my snack loving fingers
that i get these listed soon.
{poor fatty}

peek leak

despite wrapping up the bathroom re-deux
AND my very aggressive landscaping plans,
a shop update is still on the docket for this weekend.

i've been hoarding this adorable paint-by-number
longer than i'm comfortable admitting.
i KNOW someone will give her the prominent placement she deserves.
so, i'm setting her free.
{or is it a he?}

the vintage tin saga continues.
these dark avocado spice tins nestle together
in this teal-ish metal box ever so nicely.
i give this set bonus points for being flexible;
you don't have to use them together.
line up the tins in your kitchen and use the box for storage in your office.

dear fan,
so many things i love about you.
your dark orange center...
so dreamy.

last but not least...
beautiful blue pyrex.

i was hoping to shoot some more from the stash
but it's going to be a busy weekend...
got a pretty nice little saturday planned...
home depot...
maybe bed, bath, and beyond if we're lucky.
don't know if we'll have time.
{old school anyone?}

have a great weekend!

peekage leakage

sometimes all it takes is a really sunny sick day
to make a dent in things.

i have so much fun stuff to share with you guys
and today i was able to get a bunch of shots in.

here are some more peeks
{twice in one day...i should probably pace myself}

well, here you go.
i haven't gotten much past these yet
so you haven't missed anything.

so, what do you think?

freshly picked from the vintage stash.
soon to be in the shop.

chippy vintage bit box

sew awesome

a few weeks ago the mister and i went to an estate sale
in one of the most bizarre neighborhoods. ever.
REALLY pretty and sizeable 1940's brick homes with the ugliest,
ugliest additions known to man.
they weren't run down at all, just really tacky.
i mean block after block after block. all tacky.
seriously. i'm not even being snobby at all.
i was hoping to come up with some kind of analogy
to help describe this place
but i'm at a loss.
at any rate, we did come home with some great industrial storage pieces
and other home decor.
none of which i've had time to shoot yet, of course.
{the shop update i talked about friday STRAIGHT UP didn't happen}
amongst the goodness- ta da! -this gem:

{pardon the crappy iphone shot}

initial plans were to sell this in the shop but once i started flipping through it
and realized it's a REALLY great source for basic tailoring
{and laughs}
i'm reevaluating the whole situation.
i have to scan some of the pages to show you guys though.
the illustrations are awesome.
do they beat the front cover on the awesomeness scale?
don't be silly...

next up...

have i been slacking with shop updates this week or what? dang.
how about a little preview of what's in store?

i found these homer laughlin tea cup sets last weekend.

it might be my favorite pattern so far. there are gazillions though
so i'm apprehensive to pick one fave...
if you've ever researched the pattern names
you know what i'm talkin about. jeez.

and how cool is this french roll pan?
it.is.heavy.

when i said little preview, i wasn't kidding...

peek time

this was supposed to be one of those weeks where i was going to get serious.
start fresh. get back into the swing of working out before the day job.
list a few new items every night. read before bed. and get more sleep.
so far i'm zero for zero.
when my alarm went off extra early, i was astounded so i shut it off.
haven't had enough time {let alone energy} after the day job to list anything.
reading? hah!
{pretty sure the warning label on my bff, miracle anti-ager retin-a does not count}
regardless, i'm trying to get back on track. we're only half way through the week so that leaves me with another half to turn this beast around.

so, i'm starting off by sharing a few things with you:

a bit of pharmaceutical goods.

some gorgeous kaj franck.

a tin that i find ironic.

more gorgeous finel.

and a darling enamel tea kettle.

these are among the many treasures i shot over the weekend.
soon to be up in the shop.
i hope you enjoy the peeks.
there, i feel better now.

see anything you like?
